Benefits Of Root Canal Therapy

Dentist Blog

Do you know a root canal is better than a tooth extraction? Many folks think that damaged or painful teeth deserve to be removed. Well, that's not always the case! You have other options before you even think of getting a dental extraction procedure. A root canal is the best option as it comes with the perks highlighted below.

It Allows Your Teeth to Be Restored

Damaged teeth can lower your confidence. Their appearance makes you want to avoid interacting with your peers. You might even hide your smile or laughter so that your damaged teeth remain hidden. Luckily, your dentist can restore your damaged tooth, but you'll need a root canal treatment first.

Once a root canal is done, the doctor can reconstruct the damaged tooth. The tooth will look natural after the reconstruction is complete.

Save Surrounding Teeth

Tooth decay always starts with a single tooth. Unfortunately, brushing the teeth does little to control the decay. That's why the bacteria will attack the surrounding teeth and cause them to decay. At the end of it all, you might have a couple of teeth with cavities. Luckily, you can prevent decay and cavities from spreading by getting a tooth canal treatment.

Once the infected pulp is extracted, the bacteria will also disappear. At least they won't have an opportunity to cause damage to the surrounding teeth.

Avoid a Tooth Extraction

Tooth extraction can solve your pain, but it's not always the best solution. In any case, you can save a damaged tooth by getting root canal therapy. The root canal treatment will allow the dentist to fill your tooth and cover it with a dental crown. This way, you can continue your life without thinking of getting an extraction.

It's Painless

Root canal sounds like a complicated procedure, but it's virtually painless. Surprisingly, dentists can use this form of therapy if you have been dealing with chronic toothache. Remember that toothache happens due to an infected pulp. So, if the dentist can get rid of the infected pulp and fill the cavity, you'll never experience pain.

No Bone Degeneration

Allowing your jawbone to degenerate can ruin your facial features. You want your jawbone intact to maintain your facial appearance. That said, some can't afford to get tooth extractions based on their facial structures.

Get a root canal instead and have a dentist restore the infected or damaged teeth. This way, you'll avoid extractions, and your jawbone will remain intact. At least you'll never need to be concerned about getting a sunken face or wrinkles around your mouth. For more information, contact a dental service near you.

Fluoride: Why I Drink Tap Water

When the bottled water craze began, I jumped on the bandwagon with everyone else who was drinking water from bottles instead of from the tap. I wasn't sure why bottled water was healthier, but I liked the taste. When I went for my next dental check-up, I had my first cavity in a while, so I had it filled and didn't think much of it. Well, I had two more during my next check-up after that, and I began trying to think of why my teeth were suddenly going bad. The only change in my habits was the switch to bottled water, so I made the switch back to tap water and my teeth began to improve. I created this blog to encourage others who have begun getting cavities suddenly to look into their changes in habits. They may find they made a change similar to mine.
